Digitisation of the Hevosurheilu magazine

The project digitises Hevoslehti, later known as Hevostalous and from 1972 onwards as Hevosurheilu, as a historical continuum until the end of 2021.

Goal and tasks

In addition to the National Library and other legal deposit libraries, the digitised magazines will be opened for the use of researchers and customers as well as for the internal editorial use of the Hevosurheilu magazine as the digitisation proceeds.
When the project ends at the end of 2021, all the magazines digitised during the project, a total of approximately 120,000 pages, will be available digitally.

Influence

Digitised newspapers and magazines are the most used materials by researchers and the public. Newspapers are an irreplaceably rich and diverse culturohistorical heritage
because current events have been recorded in the newspapers in the form of current descriptions. This is why newspapers and magazines can be used very diversely and they are rich materials.
When digitised, newspaper materials are easy to access and use and they serve
the Finnish media, researchers and everyone interested in the history, the present and the future of horses.
The digitisation of the Hevosurheilu magazine brings the newspaper material of the most important news and events of the horse industry from 1924 to the present day for a wider research and customer use and secures the permanent storage of the material at the National Library.
