Customer service is limited and some information services will have to be postponed. These include services where we need to be next to the customer, such as advicing the use of microfilm readers. Also, not all devices and reading places are in use to maintain safe distances.

The Special Collections Reading Room is open and material is delivered there. However, even in the Special Collections Reading Room, close contact is prohibited and the customer must keep a distance when the attendant brings the materials. No information service is given alongside the material, and no material requiring close supervision is provided.

The microfilm readers and legal deposit workstations in the North Hall can be used on a self-service basis. Microfilms can be ordered and read, but the information service point is not open.

The Listening Room and its audio services are not available.

The Reprographic Service starts operating without close contact, and orders will be processed and delivered.

At the Interlibrary borrowing service you can place orders for material from other libraries. The Interlibrary borrowing works to a limited extent, as many libraries have been closed due to the pandemic. Due to vacation season, delivery times may be several weeks.

Other libraries can place orders for the Interlibrary lending service throughout the summer. Delivery times may be longer than usual.

The Legal Deposit Office (Yliopistonkatu 1) is closed until 14 August. Customer service email is vapaakappale@helsinki.fi. Contact number is +358 2941 44321 (between 15 June and 14 August on weekdays from 9 am to 11 am, otherwise from 9 am to 12 pm). Postal parcels can be sent as usual.

Delivery times may be longer than usual for all materials and services.

Please check our website for opening hours before making your way to the library. Situation may change rapidly due to government regulations. We are operating according to guidelines established by the University of Helsinki.
