New service areas and appointments at the National Library

The National Library of Finland restructured its organisation at the beginning of September. In the future, two service areas will be responsible for the Library’s services.

The Research Library service area will be responsible for the services provided to private customers, i.e., students and researchers, as well as for the digitisation of collections. The Library Network Services service area will be responsible for the services provided to organisational customers, i.e., libraries, archives and museums. As of the beginning of September, Library Network Services will also be responsible for Fennica, the National Bibliography of Finland.

Johanna Lilja, DPhil, took up her position at the beginning of September as the service director of the Research Library service area. Kristiina Hormia-Poutanen, MSc (Agr. and For.), will continue as the service director of Library Network Services.

Pirjo Karppinen, MSc (Econ.), has taken up position as the National Library’s liaison manager with special responsibility for fundraising and partnerships. Liisa Savolainen, MA, will continue as deputy library director with responsibility for the coordination of strategic planning. Professor Kai Ekholm, DPhil, will continue as library director.
