You may pick up your reservations from the pick-up shelves and loan them using the self-service book-lending machines and return books using the return machine. Self-service pickup and return of books will be possible on weekdays from 11am to 4pm.

Services and opening hours are valid for the time being and may change rapidly due to coronavirus situation.

You can reserve materials which are available for home loan from both the open collections and the materials held in storage. Please note, that you have to make reservations if you wish to borrow materials from the open shelves.

Delivery times may be longer than usual. Please wait until you have received confirmation that your reservations are ready to be picked up.

Loans can be renewed in the National Library search service. If you have problems with renewals, please contact our customer service. Due to the exceptional situation, we can renew loans more than 50 times if there are no reservations.

Limited services of the Special Collections Reading Room and the North Hall.

The Library is open on weekdays from 11am to 4pm from November 30 onwards.

During this period customers are not allowed to move freely inside the premises: you may only use the return machine, pick up shelves and lending machines. The use of the reading rooms is limited to those who have booked a visiting time. None of the customer service stations are open and you are not permitted to use the other facilities nor remain at the library for other purposes.

Library services require the existing National Library card. To borrow materials, you will need the National Library card and your four-digit PIN code. In case you have forgotten your PIN code, you can get a new one by logging into our on-line service at No more than 10 customers are permitted into the library at any time. The reprographic service does not operate.

Our digital services are running as normal. All meetings will be conducted online and most of our staff will be working remotely. During this period of limited service we are primarily offering assistance online and by phone.
