Apply to become the National Library’s Cultural Partner in 2023

Dear artist!

Every year, the National Library of Finland produces free-of-charge cultural events that are open to all. Over the years, various music and speech performances, for example, have been heard in the Cupola Hall. In addition, changing exhibitions are constantly organised in the premises of the National Library. Through this Open Call for Cultural Partners, we want to offer everyone in the arts the opportunity to present their work to the public. You can apply to become a Cultural Partner no matter what your form of art is!  You can bring poetry, a dance spectacle, music or a stand-up show or any other artistic concept to the National Library.

One to three Cultural Partners will be selected for 2023. The Partners will come up with ideas and organise one event each in the library during the year. The event must be linked in an appropriate way to the National Library, literature, published cultural heritage, historical material of the library, etc. You can freely come up with ideas.

The National Library offers space for the event and pays a fee of EUR 1,000. Tickets cannot be sold for the event.

Who can apply to become a Cultural Partner?

The call for applications is aimed at everyone working in the field of culture, regardless of the art form and composition. Both individuals and associations can apply to become a Cultural Partner.

The language of the event

As a rule, the events organised in the library are in Finnish, but we are also happy to accept applications for events in Swedish, Sámi and English. 

Marketing the event

The events will be part of the cultural activities of the National Library in 2023. The marketing of the event is carried out by the National Library's communication and the Cultural Partner in cooperation.

Selection

• The selection emphasises events that have a connection to the National Library – for example, materials in the library, history or the services provided by the library.
• We also emphasise the professionalism and attractiveness of artistic activities and their inventiveness in the field of the art in question.
• In the selection, we also evaluate how suitable the event is for our premises. Get to know our facilities.
• On the basis of applications, one to three Cultural Partners will be selected for 2023. All applicants will be notified of the selections by 28 December.
