This year’s programme is particularly diverse, covering a range of subjects from content description, library technology, open science and accessibility as well as current issues involving Melinda, Finna and FinELib. The topics are suitable for those working in a variety of libraries and duties.

The event will begin on Tuesday, 24 October, with workshops on eight different themes. The topic on Wednesday morning, 25 October, will be linked data and the future of library information systems. The keynote speaker will be Simeon Warner (Director of IT for Library Linked Data and Repository Architecture, Cornell University Library, USA). The programme on Wednesday will also include discussion of the role of libraries in the lives of citizens as well as an evening celebration in the facilities of Library Network Services in Sörnäinen, featuring a performance by musician Matti Johannes Koivu.

On Thursday, 26 October, a panel discussion will be held concerning issues examined in the projects on open science and research as well as on the National Digital Library, both of which are soon to conclude. The programme for Wednesday and Thursday will also include several parallel sessions, each of which focuses on a separate theme.

The event is free of charge, but requires registration. Some of the sessions can be followed remotely online. Online participants are also asked to register. Register for the event no later than 8 October 2017.

The final session, Introduction to the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), will be held on 26 October from 14.30 to 16. You can register for it by completing a separate form if you cannot participate in the other sessions.
