The event for freedom of speech provides an excellent opportunity to take part in this topical discussion, see original works and to explore the freedom of science.

History and particularities of Finnish censorship.
Kai Ekholm analyses case studies of Finnish censorship and presents unique samples of the Library’s collections.

Censorship today.  Hate speech, monitoring, filtering, the new self-censorship. What do we have to know and what should we be worried about?
Speakers: Esa Väliverronen, Päivikki Karhula and Ilkka Nousiainen 

Freedom of speech in science. Who studies it?
Rejected and banned dissertations. H.K. Riikonen

The evening will culminate in a guided tour through the On the Road to Freedom of Speech exhibition in the Gallery of the National Library. Refreshments.
