Every artist has an inner child - Illustrated books for children from the Slavonic collection
The idea for the exhibition arose from the desire to present our small but colorful collection of illustrated children's books to our customers. The Slavonic library's collections include unique Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Czech, Serbian and Russian children's books from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 2000s.
The exhibition tells not only about authors writing books for children, but also about their illustrators - artists who have held on to their inner child. The role of illustrators in children's books is important, because they translate the characters created by authors into the language of art, and convey to young readers, among other things, the concepts of good and evil and help them see everything beautiful, amazing and amusing. Only an artist who has preserved his inner child is able to cope with such a task.
