Collection description
The collecting process of the map collection of Minister Carl Enckell (1876–1959) began as the Åland crisis was discussed in the League of Nations between 1920 and 1921. At the time, the Minister acted as the President of the Finnish Council.
The collection contains maps that describe the development of Finland's map image since the 15th century to the 19th century. The maps also represent the Nordic Countries, northern polar regions, the Baltic Countries and Russia.
The collection has around 600 printed map sheets, which were originally published in atlases.
