Collection description and availability
Collection description

The National Collection's Map Collection includes maps, series of maps and atlases from the late-1500s to today. The collection contains approximately 90,000 separate map sheets. The earliest map sheets in the collection include general maps printed abroad showing Finland as well as maps of Finland from the 1600s.

Maps have been received as legal deposit copies since the early-1800s. Almost all maps published domestically in the 1900s have been obtained for the collection. In recent years, the Map Collection has been supplemented with donations and acquisitions.
