The Manuscript Collection contains private archives and single manuscripts related to Finnish educational and cultural history.
Collection description
The Manuscript Collection contains private archives and single manuscripts related to Finnish educational and cultural history. The private archives contain materials of researchers, professors as well as individuals working in the fields of art and culture. Community archives contain family, mansion and association archives. There are in all approx. 900 personal archives. There are approx, 1,000 signums of manuscripts from various fields and times. The collection also contains manuscripts written in Oriental languages. The history of the collection reaches back to the collections of the Royal Academy of Turku library.
