The collection contains literature in Latvian language printed in 1828–1917 which the library received as legal deposit copies.
The collection scope is over 10,000 titles, of which books 7,200. The book collection includes fiction and poetry, children's books, natural sciences, humanities and devotional literature.
There are around 200 titles of newspapers and periodicals in the collection. The collection also contains a large number of ephemera.
