Collection description

In addition to materials published in Finland, the National Collection contains literature published abroad in Finnish or by Finns. This 'expatriate' material in the collection spans from the 1800s to today.

The largest sub-collections are the Finnish American collection and Soviet Karelia collection. The National Collection also includes a significant number of expatriate newspapers. In addition, Finland-themed issues of international periodicals have been collected in the National Collection.
