Collection description

The subject matters of books in the Slavonic Library published after 1917 are mostly concerned with Russia, the Soviet Union, Caucasus region and the countries, peoples and cultures of the Slavic language area in Eastern Europe. Key research topics include history, folklore and cultural studies, political studies, sociology, literary studies, art history and art studies, studies related to the church and monastic institution, religions and philosophy. The collection includes fiction in all Slavic languages. Reference books, bibliographies and dictionaries are available in all topics and countries.

Some of the dictionaries, bibliographies and reference material can only be found in the card catalogue. For the Polonica collection, monographs published in serial publications and books acquired in the 1980s are similarly only available through the card catalogue.
