The most extensive renovation of the National Library was carried out between 2013 and 2015. While the project primarily concerned the main building of the Library, designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, some modifications were also made to the Rotunda. The main building of the Library on Unioninkatu was reopened for customers on 1 March 2016.
The attached bilingual (Finnish and English) brochure introduces, in addition to the renovation project, the restoration work carried out as well as the building technology and new solutions utilised to improve the functionality of the Library.
