Merger of functions

The merger of research library services and the collection and description of the national cultural heritage was prepared all year in cooperation with the personnel. Some of the plans were also implemented.

The merger of the two functions will take full effect at the beginning of 2010.


HR scheme

HR management was honed with an HR scheme for the period 2008–2015, which the Board approved in January. The goals and measures of the scheme are linked to the implementation of the National Library strategy 2006–2015.

In the new planning period, personnel resources will be strengthened especially in legal deposit operations, long-term storage and digitisation.

The scheme also deals with the controlled reduction of personnel expenses through retirement.


Communications scheme

The Board approved the National Library’s communications scheme 2008–2010 in February. Using this scheme as the basis, a survey of the different library functions was carried out in the summer and the results were documented in a report completed in August.

The design frameworks for internal and external communication drawn up for the functions’ own communications schemes were finalised in November at which time they were also evaluated in the extended communications group.
